Double Ka Meetha

A very popular Hyderabadi dessert. This dessert can be served as-is or with whipped cream or ice cream of your choice.

Ingredients:

White Bread -- 1 loaf
Sugar -- 1 & 1/2 cups
Water -- 4 cups
Cardomom powder -- 1/4 tsp
Ghee or Oil for frying
Safforn -- a few strands
Almonds for garnishing

Method:

1. Cut the bread slices into 1/2 inch thick pieces and fry them in ghee or oil. An alrenative method is to toast the bread slices in a pop-up toaster and apply ghee on both sides.

2. Make a sugar syrup with 1 & 1/2 cups sugar and 4 cups water. Add a lillte milk to clear any dirt. Take care not  to make the syrup too thick. Add saffron and cardomom powder while boiling.

3. Lower the heat and add the fried(or toasted) bread pieces and cook for 5 minutes.

4 Remove from heat and garnish with almond slices.
